In Asia, statues of Kuan Yin can be found in front of, or on the grounds of, many Buddhist temples. She is a Boddhisattva (also spelled bodhisattva), a person who has earned the right to leave this world of suffering and enter nirvana, but has chosen instead to stay on this earth to help others reach enlightenment first. She is the one who stills the water and quiets the restless earth. She is the one who brings healing to us and whose example we can use to convey back to the land and the water that we, too are interested in healing them in return. Activity to to: |
